Do you recognize the woman in this photo? Why, it's the fabulous and beautiful Kathleen Turner.
In a cabaret-style tip of the hat to the acclaimed actress, CONCORA On the Town! will present "Summer Sizzle" on Sunday, June 27 at 7:30 p.m. at TheaterWorks, 233 Pearl St. in Hartford. Ms. Turner, star of such hit films as Body Heat, Jewel of the Nile, Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and War of the Roses, will appear in the premiere of Matthew Lombardo's play High (at TheaterWorks July 2 - August 22). In anticipation of her arrival in Hartford, "Summer Sizzle" will ease and tease you with hot, hit songs with a summer theme. The versatile ensemble sings in pop, Broadway, classical, folk, and classic rock styles, with songs that include "Hot Sun in the Summertime," "Too Darn Hot," "The Girls of Summer," "Beach Baby," "Pretty Woman," "Summer in the City," and more.
Returning for On the Town!'s fourth production will be Brian Patton, who takes the keyboard and plays with the Sir William Trio - Bill Stillinger, bass; Paul Boehmke, saxophone; and Gregory Caputo, drums. The featured singers are Jessica Nevins, Phred Mileski, Mary Richard, Salli-Jo Borden, and Ken Downes.
"Summer Sizzle" is a high-spirited evening for people of all ages, and, in pure Patton style, will involve some audience participation. Tickets for CONCORA On the Town! are $30 each and may be ordered at www.concora.org, or by calling (860) 224.7500.
