Highlights of the season will include collaborations with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, the Men of the Hartford Chorale, and the University Singers of Central Connecticut State University, as well as great music by J.S. Bach, music for multiple choirs, organ and percussion, Christmas music from New England composers, the poetry of Emily Dickinson set to music by contemporary American women composers, and a special tribute to Felix Mendelssohn. All concert sites are fully accessible. Braille and large-print copies of the concert program are available at each concert. CONCORA's season is made possible with support from the Saunders Foundation, the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism, donors to the Greater Hartford Arts Council's United Arts Campaign, The Edward C. & Ann T. Roberts Foundation, and many other foundations and individuals.

"American Voices" Sunday October 19, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. This will be an exciting collaboration with the University Singers of Central Connecticut State University (Dr. Pamela J. Perry, Director), featuring popular music, folk songs, and spirituals that celebrate American composers and poets. Enjoy a star-spangled program of works by Leonard Bernstein, Gwyneth Walker, Eric Whitacre, Nancy Galbraith, Jean Berger, Robert Cohen, and more. At First Church of Christ, New Britain "Christmas in New England" Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. Christmas with CONCORA this year is an invitation to celebrate music that is quintessentially "New England," by composers old and new from our own region. At Center Church, Hartford. Snow date: Friday, December 19 at 7:30 p.m. "Bach!" Sunday, March 22, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. CONCORA and the Hartford Symphony Orchestra continue their immensely popular collaboration. Motet: "Fürchte dich nicht," Cantata #80: "Ein' feste Burg ist unser Gott" (A Mighty Fortress is our God), Missa Brevis in g minor, and an organ solo by Edward Clark. At Immanuel Congregational Church, Hartford "A Sonic Spectacular," with guest artists, The Men of the Hartford Chorale Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. Take one organ - or two - add chimes and antiphonal choirs, and get a Sonic Spectacular! Majestic and evocative music by Charles Ives, Petr Eben, Herbert Howells, Charles-Marie Widor, and others, including Franz Biebl's astonishingly beautiful Ave Maria for double male choir. "Wine & Jazz" Saturday, January 24, 2009, 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Come enjoy songs from the Great American Songbook and jazz classics with The Sir William Trio and CONCORA singers - as well as great wines for the tasting. A fund-raising and fun-raising event sponsored by the CONCORA Friends of Bach. At the home of Rob & Salli-Jo Borden in Farmington. Snow date: January 25, 4:00p.m. - 6:30 p.m. All Tickets: $45 "Happy Birthday, Felix Mendelssohn" (Happy Birthday, CONCORA!) Sunday, February 8, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. 2009 marks the 35th Anniversary of CONCORA. We begin a year of celebration by coming "home" to The Music Series at South Church, where we had our birth in 1974, presenting choral music Mendelssohn composed throughout his life. Works will include the sacred and the secular, a cappella and accompanied - fresh and compelling! At South Church, New Britain. Tickets: $30 for Premium seats/$20 for general admission/$10 students CONCORA IN RECITAL: "Mendelssohn and Friends" Sunday, March 29, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. A relaxing afternoon of songs, duets, and arias from the oratorios of the great Felix Mendelssohn. We'll also explore and present music by his friends and contemporaries. Please plan to stay for a reception with the artists. At Hubbard Hall, St. John's Episcopal Church, West Hartford.
