Exploring the Great Choral Masterworks with CONCORA
Now in its 18th season, CONCORA’s Summer Festival offers amateur adult and young adult singers from across the region an opportunity to rehearse, learn, and perform with CONCORA. Over the course of a week, participants rehearse with Artistic Director Chris Shepard and an ensemble of CONCORA’s professional singers, enhancing their musical and vocal skills and experiencing the joy inherent in sharing the music-making experience.
The 2017 Summer Festival concludes on Saturday, August 5, when CONCORA and the Festival Choir present a public concert of repertoire explored during the preceding week. This year’s Festival offers favorite excerpts from masterworks by Bach (Saint Matthew Passion and Magnificat), Handel (Zadok the Priest), Mozart (Requiem), Haydn (Creation), Beethoven (Mass in C), Vivaldi (Gloria), Brahms (Requiem), Mendelssohn (Elijah), Rossini (Petite Messe Solennelle), and Fauré (Requiem).
