A celebrated composer and conductor, Moses Hogan received worldwide acclaim for his spirituals.  He published more than 80 works by age 45.  His familiar titles included “Steal Away,” “Wade in the Water,” and “Great Day.”  CONCORA’s professional choir with singers from Central CT State University and area high schools will perform the composer’s music on the 20th anniversary of his death.

Presented by CONCORA and New Britain Public Library, this program discusses the spiritual and the music of Moses Hogan.   This discussion was facilitated by composer and conductor Ellen Gilson Voth.  Speakers included the 2/11/23 concert's co-conductors: Chris Shepard, CONCORA's Artistic Director, and Dr. Gaylon Robinson, Director of Choral Studies at Central CT State University, with bass baritone Jermaine Woodard, Jr.
